Peter Baker – Director

Peter Baker MA FRSPH FRSA has been Director of Global Action on Men’s Health since it began in 2013.

For 12 years, until August 2012, Peter was Chief Executive of the Men’s Health Forum, Great Britain’s leading men’s health charity. He was, until 2020, Campaign Director of HPV Action, a UK coalition of about 50 patient and professional organisations which successfully campaigned to achieve a gender-neutral HPV vaccination programme. He now supports the European Cancer Organisation’s work on HPV as a consultant.

In recognition of his work for HPV Action, Peter received the Royal Society for Public Health’s 2018 award for Outstanding Contribution to Championing the Public’s Health. In 2014/15, he completed a major review of Ireland’s National Men’s Health Policy for the Irish government which directly contributed to the subsequent men’s health action plan.

He sits on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Men’s Social and Community Health and Trends in Urology and Men’s Health and has contributed to numerous academic papers, articles and blogs on men’s health.

Peter was previously a health journalist, author of two self-help books for men, editor of a health website for ‘the man in the street’, and a social policy researcher.

He lives on the south coast of England with his partner and has three children, all of whom are now grown-up.
